Friday 15th January 2021
Good morning Holborn!
We are continuing to get Teams and the remote learning up and running as it was during the middle of the week and will keep you updated with this as soon as we hear more from technical support.
In the meantime, every teacher at Iceni has been making sure all learning tasks are available to all children, especially in year 3 because the children are so eager and wonderful- we want the best for all of you.
You can find your learning activities below:
All of you will be expected to complete the following tasks:
- 1x of the arithmetic papers (Paper 1 is easier and Paper 2 is the trickier paper- you choose but make sure you think about which one your teacher would suggest as you decide)
- 1x Phonics task (Choose the option which you have been set so far this week on Teams)
- 1 x History- Stone Age- Vocabulary matching activity (three difficulties to choose from. Again, make sure you choose the task sheet that you believe your teacher would give you if you were in class)
- Spelling/ Handwriting Task (choose your tasks)
- Art/History - A task on Purple Mash has been set around creating some Stone Age cave art. There is a powerpoint attached giving information about what people in the Stone Age would draw and the materials they used. If you are feeling adventurous (and your adults let you), why don't you have a go at being a Stone Age person and draw in a cave (under a table with paper stuck to the under side and the lights turned off)? We had a go in class yesterday.
- English task - at the bottom of the document list there is a video of another teacher reading Stone Age boy. Once you have watched it, create your own story map to sequence the story. Here is a one to help you get started.
Times tables Rock Stars
- We have to beat Chancery Lane this week!! Get playing.
Read a book of your choice.
We ask that you try your best and send us your work using the class email.
Thursday 14th January 2021
Apologies but Teams requires some technical maintenance so will not be accessible for children work or videos until further notice. Thank you for your patience with this.
This does mean that 'teaching input' videos may not be accessible until the technical problem is resolved. However, please find resources for your learning on the class webpage.
Once you have finished your learning tasks, send them to your class email.
Mr Wills, Miss Dunlop and Mrs Roots.

Here is Miss Dunlop's email that she wrote first BEFORE she checked it. We wonder if you can find all the mistakes.
There are:
10 spelling mistakes
6 times where she hasn't used capital letters or full stops in the right places
3 times where she has got the wrong form of the past tense. For example, instead of saying: 'She bit into the mince pie.' Miss D has written: 'She bited into the mince pie.'
good morning Year 3!
I hope you all had a lovely christmas and Father Christmas didn’t leaf any cowl in your stockings!
My Christmas was relly nice. I sawed my mum and my sista and we had a very calm Christmas day We ate, watchet a film, eated some more and played a silly game together. In the morning, a bootiful, feathery frend visited one of my bird feeders. It was a robin with a bright red breast! It was as though they new it was Christmas and wanted to say ‘Hello’ It really made my day.
My faverit presents I received were more books to read! I will hopefully get to share sum of them with you very soon
Something very odd did happen. When I waked up on christmas day, I noticed some of my Lego mini-figures had moved around and weren’t where I had left them. I wonder who could have moved them…
I look forward to hearing from you.
From Miss Dunlop

Think about and write 3 things you are worried about and 3 things you are thankful for.
It would be EVEN better if, you can add why you are thankful for those 3 things.
Your teachers would love to see what you come up with so, if you would like to, why don't you send them an email.
Use the Success Criteria to help you.
SC:
1. Use Capital letters to start a sentence or for a name of a place or person.
2. Full stops at the end of a sentence.
3. Use your phonics knowledge to sound out and spell works as accurately as you can.

Connected Curriculum-History
Our new theme this half term is the Stone Age.
As part of your history learning, we would like you to research the Stone Age and make notes on what you find.
To help you get started, possible areas of research could be:
1. When was the Stone Age?
2. What tools did they have?
3. What were their homes like? How were they made? How are they different to our homes now?
4. What did they eat? How does that compare to our meals in school/ packed lunch? How did they get their food? How does that compare to our lives now?
5. What did they wear?
