Keeping Safe
At Iceni we believe it is very important to not only keeping safe in school but also keeping safe outside of school too. A child’s understanding of risk develops slowly with experience. Our role as adults is to help children gain the skills they need to make decisions that will keep them safe. See all the things below we do at Iceni to support children to develop skills to keep themselves safe.
Zones of Regulation
The 'Zones of Regulation' is an approach we use throughout the school. We use it to teach self-regulation by categorising all the different ways we feel into different colours. Children are taught how to use different strategies and tools to regulate their emotions to support them to feel calm and in the correct 'zone' for their day in school.
Anti-bullying
We are committed to providing a warm, caring and safe environment for all our children so that they can learn and play in a relaxed and secure environment. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable and will not be tolerated in our school. We take all incidents of bullying seriously. At Iceni Academy, we acknowledge that bullying does happen from time to time – indeed, it would unrealistic to claim that it does not. When bullying does occur, everyone should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively in accordance with our anti-bullying policy. This is why we have a procedure that we teach children to support them to report any concerns. Children are taught at the beginning of the year what they should do if they think they are being bullied. Children can refer to the procedure by going to the school hall to look at the display.
