Minerva takes its name from the Roman goddess of wisdom. We are inquisitive and love learning about the amazing world around us. We might also have some fun along the way!
Our PE days are currently Monday and Tuesday but these are subject to change so we would advise to keep PE kits in school for the week.
This term we will be looking at the Anglo-Saxon period and how its influences can still be felt in this country today. We will be covering key skills used by historians to uncover and understand the past. We will be going on a trip to the Anglo-Saxon village at West Stow to experience life our the settlers from overseas. Later in the term we will be applying the skills we have learned to the Viking period and working on independent stage 3 projects.
In English, we are currently looking at recounts and will be writing our own on our school trip to West Stow. In reading, we will be working through our VIPERS skills, focussing on one each week. Children should be taking their reading records home each day for reading at home. Spellings will be given out each week to be stuck into reading records for practising at home.
In the first half-term we will be looking at the place value of numbers up to 10,000. We will be using the Power Maths programme which is a mastery approach encouraging children to apply their skills to a variety of problem solving questions.
Purple MashAs part of their computing lessons, pupils at Iceni are taught using the Purple Mash online platform. This provides a safe environment for them to become familiar with tasks such as creating and saving documents and communicating responsibly. Pupils are able to access the platform to try the activities across all school subjects at home.
