Rota Kids
What is RotaKids?
RotaKids is a fun and exciting way for children aged 7-12 to make friends and get involved with important
activities in the community, all while having a great time in the process.
We have a RotaKids club at Iceni Academy. Two representatives from each class meet once every half term
with the help and support from the LSA’s, teachers, and the Rotary Club of Colchester Centurion, children can
gain a valuable experience in helping others and learning interesting new things. It also brings an exciting
and practical approach to supporting the citizenship element of the National Curriculum. By belonging to RotaKids, children enjoy a boost to their confidence and self-esteem at a key age and develop an understanding of how
their actions can impact others.
What our RotaKids have done
Our RotaKids come up with ideas and see them become a reality. Some examples of what our Rotakids have done are:
- Filled shoeboxes with toys and toiletries for underprivileged children around the world as part of the Rotary Shoebox Scheme
- Regularly visit our local care home
- Raising money for charities by having cake sales and school fayres
- Community litter pick with one of our local Borough Councillors
- Support charity events hosted by Rotary by raising money for ‘Purple Pinkie Day’ to help eradicate Polio
