E-Safety for Adults
The internet is an inspiring and positive place. It is an amazing resource which enables children and young people to connect, communicate and be creative in a number of different ways, on a range of devices. However, the internet is always changing and being able to keep up to date with your child’s use of technology can be a challenge. Children and young people need advice and protection when it comes to managing their lives online.
If you or your child finds disturbing content online, you can report it to CEOP which is run by the police using the link below. They also have resources for a range of age groups to support parents and carers.
The most important thing that you can do as parents and carers is to make sure that you are talking to your children regularly about their technology usage. There are real advantages in maintaining an open dialogue with your child about their internet use. Not sure where to begin? These conversation starter suggestions can help:
- Ask your children to tell you about the websites and apps they like to use and what they enjoy doing online.
- Ask them about how they stay safe online.
- What tips do they have for you and where did they learn them?
- What is OK and not OK to share?
REMEMBER - ZIP IT, BLOCK IT, FLAG IT
