Welcome to Minerva!
Teacher: Mr L Hurrell
Learning Support Assistant: Mrs S Clarke
Minerva takes its name from the Roman goddess of wisdom. We are inquisitive and love learning about the amazing world around us. We might also have some fun along the way
Please can parents ensure that children bring the following each day:
A non-metal water bottle.
A reading book at the correct level (Please ask your child to speak to Mr Hurrell if they are unsure of their level
A snack book, which can be at any level
Children are encouraged to read at home at least three times and for this to be signed by an adult in their reading record.
Misty Mountain, Winding River
In the spring term, year 4 will be researching mountains; the different types and how they are formed. In the second half of the term we will be looking at rivers leading up to a visit to Epping forest where they will be looking at how an actual river forms and changes its course.
We highly encourage reading at home as it is the best way for children to make progress and develop a love of reading. Reading records should be taken home at the end of each day.
Spellings handed out each Friday to be tested on the following Friday. Please see a list of common exception words that children should practise alongside their weekly spellings.
In year 4 our big focus in working on our times tables. Children are encouraged to practise at home using the TTRS platform (see link below)
Our science topics this year will be:
- Living things and their habitats
- Animals, including humans
- States of matter
