The PE curriculum at Iceni focuses on 'developing the whole child'. This means as well as taking part in various sports, PE focusses on developing teamwork, leadership, independence, a growth mind-set and sportsmanship.
PE feeds into the schools ‘Healthy body, healthy mind, better learner’ ethos.
Where possible, PE is linked as part of the Connected Curriculum with areas such as Science and Nutrition.
Year 4 have been learning about how the body responds to exercise. In particular year 4 spent one PE lesson learning about the heart and how blood is transported around the body. The class took part in a circuit representing how blood in transported through the body.
Sporting Star of the Week
Each week the ‘Sporting Star of the Week’ is awarded to acknowledge exceptional performance, great progress or excellent sportsmanship.
Since the introduction of sporting competition within the MAT, Iceni has excelled!
Badminton – 1st place

Step Up Competition
In March 2021 , Iceni Acdemy held it's first 'step up' competition, which saw the entire schoool (children and staff) attempt to complete as many steps as possible. The results of the competition are as follows:-
The staff held a seperate 'step up' competition, the winner of this was.
Iceni’s PE kit is comprised of a plain white top, plain blue shorts, and plain black trainers or plimsolls.
In the winter the children may wear plain black, grey or navy track suit bottoms (and jumper).
Long hair must be worn up.
No jewellery is to be worn.
For after school sports clubs children are required to bring in a spare change of sports clothes (not their PE kit) that they will wear home after the club.
Shinpads must be worn in all football clubs.
