Our Main Projects
Autumn: Through the Ages.
Spring: Rocks, Relics and Rumbles.
Summer: Emperors and Empires.
English
During the course of Year 3, we will be writing for a variety of purposes. These will include: Descriptive writing, newspaper reports, persuasive letters and non chronological report. We will be covering skills such as expanded noun phrases, apostrophes, fronted adverbials and inverted commas.
In Reading, we will be building fluency through expression, pace whilst continuing to apply decoding skills taught in phonics. We will also be working through our VIPERS skills, focusing on one each week. Children will bring their reading records home each day to record their reading at home.
Spellings will be given out each week, which will be stuck in their reading records, these need practising at home and will be tested on a Friday.
Maths
In Maths, we will be using the White Rose programme, a mastery approach programme which encourages and sparks curiosity and excitement while giving children opportunities to apply their skills to a variety of problem solving and reasoning questions.
We will be using Time Table Rockstars and arithmetic from White Rose to consolidate learning.
Science
This year in Science we will be covering:
